Peer Review of Still/Desire
By Dunia del Campo Baena

Dear Misha,

Attending this year's performance festival has been of great interest to me
And I have come back home full of enthusiasm and ideas
Being able to see the wide range of approaches of the performances
Has made me think of where my own art practice is going

Colette’s performance seems to be a reflection of her inner conflicts
It is interesting that she left people feeling emotionally touched in their heart
Carrying a weight
Needing time alone to digest the heavy load that had been thrown at them
In contrast to your performance
In which you share with the world
The most intimate secrets of being female
Leaving yourself naked, in a literal and non-literal sense
We left feeling peaceful and wiser

During your performance I wrote:
"The initial shock of the nudity soon gets forgotten
The strangeness of the piece takes over
And her body is no longer unfamiliar"

I already knew, I realise, on a subconscious level
What I was trying to say with my art
And how I wanted people to feel
But now I know on a conscious one
This is to develop ways of communicating a truth
That we all recognize but most have forgotten
I want to inspire people to connect with all that they are
Aiming to leave them feeling elevated in some way
Not an easy task
I know

Dunia
